Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri has cranked out billions of rounds for U.S. forces over seven decades, and surplus 7.62 from Lake City, Portuguese FNM, German DM41, South African R1M3, and other Western arsenals fills the spam cans, surplus crates, and reloading benches of American shooters and collectors today. Civilian shooters know it as .308 Winchester — same case, same dimensions, slightly different chamber pressure spec — and it's one of the most-loaded cartridges in American reloading.
