The Worcester arsenal that finished the Garand line. Harrington & Richardson Arms Company of Worcester, Massachusetts produced about 428,000 M1 Garand rifles between 1953 and 1956 — roughly eight percent of total Garand output, completing the Korean War-era production surge alongside Springfield Armory, Winchester, and International Harvester. H&R was a New England gunmaking institution by the time the Garand contract came in: founded in 1871 by Gilbert H. Harrington and William A. Richardson, the company had built revolvers, shotguns, and rimfire rifles for three generations of American shooters before being pulled into Korean War-era battle rifle production. The receiver stamp \"H. R. ARMS CO.\" — paired with the standard Springfield-style cartouche and Korean War-era serial numbers — is one of the most distinctive maker markings on a CMP rack. H&R Garands are the second-rarest of the four maker variants and carry a quiet prestige among collectors who know what those Worcester-built receivers represent: the tail end of America's last great battle rifle production run, made by a company that had already armed three generations of American hunters and shooters before the Army's contract came in.

After the Garand line wound down, H&R continued building civilian shotguns and single-shot rifles — the Topper, the Pardner, the Handi-Rifle — for another four decades before closing in 2015, ending one of the longer continuous runs in American firearms manufacturing. This shirt puts that Worcester legacy on your chest. Built for M1 Garand collectors, CMP Garand match shooters, .30-06 reloaders, Korean War veterans and their families, H&R Arms shotgun and Handi-Rifle owners, New England firearms history readers, manufacturer-variant collectors, milsurp researchers, and anyone who's ever flipped over a Garand, found \"H. R. ARMS CO.\" on the receiver, and grinned at the rarity of what they're holding.
